SPIDERS Phase III Microgrid

SPIDERS Phase III is a high-profile DoD/DoE microgrid project aimed at demonstrating a cyber DR, installation-wide smart microgrid with a high penetration of renewables, and capable of automatic forming and operation, plus allowing demand side management and ancillary services.  SPIDERS Phase III was the third and most complex of the three SPIDERS microgrid projects, and Go Electric was the only new vendor/technology selected for Phase III. The DoD selected Go Electric to demonstrate the company’s patented AutoLYNC® microgrid controls technology.

The SPIDERS Phase III microgrid was commissioned in February 2016 and is operational. Go Electric delivered two 250kW / 75 kWh LYNC DR® systems and two Caterpillar 725kW diesel generators. Go Electric was responsible for the design and integration of the LYNC DR systems, plus the overall microgrid control for four generators into a 3.5MW microgrid. Go Electric was also responsible for the integration of the 3.5MW microgrid within the camp-wide 5.0 MW cyber-DR microgrid that includes solar PV production.
